Every applicant provides their results, and we check them subject by subject against what they have applied to teach. Strong marks in one subject do not qualify anyone to teach another.
This is the stage most applicants find hardest. Each one prepares and delivers a mock lesson on a topic from the curriculum, with us in the student's seat. We are not testing whether they know the content — we already checked that. We are watching how they teach it.
Teaching a teenager who is behind and knows it takes more than subject knowledge. The final interview is about temperament and values — the things that decide whether a struggling student keeps showing up.
Only applicants who pass every stage are given a profile and allowed to take students. A brilliant set of marks does not make up for a weak mock lesson, and a warm interview does not make up for shaky subject knowledge. The tutors you compare on your shortlist have cleared all three.

Start with the subject, grade and curriculum. We show you a shortlist of specialists who match, each with a profile covering their subjects, qualifications, teaching approach and reviews. You compare them and request the one you want — we do not assign anyone to you.
We send you a link to create your account. It takes a minute: your name, email and a password, your ID number, and a tick to accept the Tutoring Services Agreement — which you can read in full before you agree to it.
That account is your portal. It is where you buy lessons, follow progress updates after every session, and see every payment you have made in one place.
If you would like one, your tutor will reach out to arrange a short introduction — a chance for them, you and your child to meet and talk about what your child needs before any teaching starts. Some families want this. Others would rather get straight into the first lesson. Both are fine.
If the tutor is not right for your child — for any reason, including one you would struggle to put into words — contact us. We will talk it through, work out what would suit your child better, and match you with a different specialist.
Because this happens before you buy anything, there is nothing to refund and nothing to argue about. That is deliberate. We would rather move a family to the right tutor early than have them pay for lessons with the wrong one.
Once you are happy with your tutor, you buy lessons up front from your portal, in a bundle that suits you. Each lesson is one full hour. Larger bundles carry a discount. You can pay by card online or by instant EFT, and you will see the exact price before you confirm anything.
Lessons are prepaid, so there are no invoices, no monthly bills and no arrears. Your child simply has a balance of lessons to use.
Your tutor schedules sessions with you directly and works to a plan rather than turning up to whatever is due tomorrow. Lessons are held online, over a video call, so your child can be taught by the right specialist for their subject no matter where you live. After each session, a progress update appears in your portal — so you know what was taught without having to interrogate your child about it.
You can rate and review your tutor from your portal. This is not decoration: those ratings feed directly into the rate schedule below, which is how a tutor's price goes up. Your honest feedback is what decides who earns more on this platform.
Every session produces a progress update in your portal, written for you rather than for a filing cabinet. Three things: what was covered, what your child should work on, and what to practise before next time.
It means you can see whether the money is doing anything — and your child gets a clear next step instead of a vague sense that they should study more.
One lesson is one full hour. We do not set prices by negotiation or by how in-demand someone is: a tutor's rate is set by a published schedule, and the only thing that moves it is the reviews parents leave.
Every tutor starts at the same baseline, charged per one-hour lesson. They move up only by earning consistently high ratings across a meaningful number of reviews — both thresholds have to be met.

Lessons are bought in advance, and each one is a full hour — so a 10-lesson bundle is 10 hours of tutoring. The more you buy at once, the less each lesson costs. You can also buy a custom number at the standard rate.
Because tutors are priced individually, a 20-lesson bundle with a tutor at the starting rate works out considerably cheaper than the same bundle with one of our most-reviewed specialists. You choose where on that scale you want to be.
Let your tutor know at least 24 hours before the session and it can be rescheduled without using up a lesson. Inside 24 hours, or if the student does not attend, that lesson may be treated as used — barring genuine emergencies, medical or otherwise, which we handle case by case. If a tutor cancels late or does not attend, the lesson is not deducted and is rescheduled at no cost to you.
Prepaid lessons remain valid for 12 months from the date you buy them, and can be used for any child you have registered with us during that time. Lessons are non-refundable once purchased, and any still unused at the end of the 12 months are forfeited — so it is worth buying a bundle size you will realistically get through.
Yes. Contact us and we will discuss what would suit your child better and reassign them. Your unused lessons move across at the price you originally paid, and any sessions already scheduled move with you.
Often, yes — each tutor's profile lists every subject they were assessed on, and they are only listed for subjects whose marks we reviewed. If your child needs help in a subject a tutor does not cover, tell us and we will match a second specialist rather than stretch the first one beyond what they were approved for.
What you provide when you request a tutor and set up your account, plus the progress updates written after each session. It is stored securely and handled in line with POPIA: shared with your assigned tutor so they can teach your child properly, and never sold or passed to anyone else. As your child is a minor, you consent on their behalf when you accept the agreement, which sets out in full what we hold and why.
Online. Every session is held over a video call, which is what lets us match your child to the right specialist for their subject and curriculum rather than whoever happens to live nearby. It also makes scheduling easier around sport, travel and everything else in a school week.
